Welcome to my blog.  This is my first attempt at blogging for and with teachers.  I've blogged in other areas of my life and now I'm making it part of my professional world, outside of the classroom.


I've used a classroom website and blogged with or for my students in in several different ways.  This year I am working on developing a "flipped classroom."  I am planning on keeping my classroom website;  it is a great platform to launch the lessons from, but I want to connect with other teachers and blog about my experiences on this new teaching style.


Its not so different than what I've done in the past, as I only have limited classroom contact with my students, but I want to make it more intentional.


Let me tell you about my classes.  I teach K-8 in a parent partnered program at an alternative school  Most of my time is with middle school aged students.  I see my students, depending on the program they are enrolled in either one day a week for 3 hours or two days a week for 1.5 hours each day. I like to devote my class time with them to applying concepts, completing labs, clarifying concepts, developing critical thinking and assessment. In between the days I see them they work at home on course work I have scheduled for them.  This is just for my class which is science.  They also have their other classes with varying schedules of face to face and at home work.


This is why I think that a flipped classroom is ideal for what I do.  I'm looking for feed back and ideas.  ~ Kelly
